Im Zuge des fortschreitenden Klimawandels, der Ressourcenknappheit und dem dadurch wachsendem Nutzungsdruck auf den öffentlichen Raum braucht Stadtentwicklung flexible und sozial wirksame Strategien.

Das Seminar „ZWISCHEN RAUM STRUKTUR“ untersucht zentrale Fragen der Architektur im kleinen Maßstab und entwickelt nachhaltige, rückbaubare Interventionen für den urbanen Raum. Ausgangspunkt ist die Wahl eines konkreten Ortes in Karlsruhe, welcher hinsichtlich seiner Nutzung und Atmosphäre Defizite aufweist.

Der Ort wird in Phase I des Seminars hinsichtlich räumlicher, funktionaler und sozialer Faktoren analysiert, um Defizite und Potenziale zu erkennen. Die Standortanalyse wird durch ein Umgebungsmodell nachvollziehbar gemacht.

Phase II widmet sich der Konzeptentwicklung einer rückbaubaren Intervention, welche die Potentiale des Ortes weiterentwickelt und dabei zu aktiver Aneignung einlädt.

In Phase III werden die Entwürfe konstruktiv ausgearbeitet – mit dem Focus auf ressourcenschonenden Bauweisen, wiederverwendbaren Materialien und reversiblen Verbindungen. Ziel des Seminars ist es somit, exemplarische Modelle zu entwickeln, die zeigen, wie Architektur im kleinen Maßstab wirksam werden kann – als präzise, nachhaltige und menschzentrierte Intervention im urbanen Raum.

In the wake of advancing climate change, the scarcity of resources and the resulting growing pressure to use public space, urban development needs flexible and socially effective strategies.

The seminar "ZWISCHEN RAUM STRUKTUR" examines central questions of architecture on a small scale and develops sustainable, deconstructable interventions for urban space. The starting point is the selection of a specific location in Karlsruhe, which has deficits in terms of its use and atmosphere.

In phase I of the seminar, the location is analyzed with regard to spatial, functional and social factors in order to identify deficits and potentials. The location analysis is made comprehensible by means of an environment model.

Phase II is dedicated to the concept development of a deconstructable intervention that further develops the potential of the site and invites active appropriation.

In phase III, the designs will be worked out constructively – with a focus on resource-saving construction methods, reusable materials and reversible connections. The aim of the seminar is thus to develop exemplary models that show how architecture can be effective on a small scale – as a precise, sustainable and human-centered intervention in urban space.
